A devastating fire laid waste to a 71-year-old landmark, the barn of Jim and Sharon Cashman on McMahon Drive. Ironically the barn had been rebuilt in 1939 because of a previous fire. Sharon and Jim want to extend their sincere thanks to the fire chief, Rick Chesebrough and to the firefighters who did a spectacular job in extinguishing the fire. They also want to thank their family, friends and wonderful neighbours who supported them during and following the loss.
Members of the Bellrock Community joined together for a fund-raising effort in early February. Ernie Meeks of Bellrock is generously donating the proceeds from the sale of 4 cords of firewood to the Bellrock Community Hall fund. An enthusiastic crew of nearly a dozen hardy souls spent the morning cutting up the wood while Ernie and two helpers felled, limbed, and dragged the trees out. A good time was had by all, and they sure enjoyed the chili lunch served afterwards at the Hutchesons' home. For more information contact Howard and Lynne Hutcheson at (613) 374- 1470 to buy your firewood and support the Bellrock Community Center at the same time.
Our condolences to Sylvia and Gerry Pynenberg. Their cherished son Evan Huang, thirteen years of age, passed away suddenly on February 8th. In the words of many of the people who had the privilege of knowing Evan, "He was a precious, happy young lad who blessed the lives of us all."
Linda Bates is thrilled with the amount of donations that have come in for the Haiti Earthquake Victims. On February 12th, another huge load of medical supplies was unloaded with the generous help of the Sydenham Senior Girls Volleyball Team. Terrific work, Linda!
