The Adopt a Barrel Flower contest is now closed to new entrants. The public entrants will be assigned their barrels this week and then the anticipation will move into high gear. Businesses and the residents who entered the competition will be creating floral masterpieces in their assigned barrels. Verona will reap the benefits of a beautiful, blossom filled Main St. Kudos to all the businesses and residents who are taking part in this competition.

The 15th Annual Verona Cattail Festival is shaping up to be one of the best festivals that Verona has ever had. Lots of enthusiasm and planning are going into every aspect of the festival. The entertainment committee is lining up some incredible musical talent. The Kids Craft Corner will be providing all day entertainment and fun filled crafts-all free. These are just a few of the new, fun events at this year's festival. Volunteers are needed to help bring all this excitement into play. Come find out what you can do at the next Verona Festival meeting, Tuesday May 18th. Lions Club Hall, Verona Sand Road, 7 pm.

South Frontenac Natural Environment Committee will host a Nature Talk entitled 50 Plus Herbs: For Various Purposes. Nancy Cole, who is a Master Gardener & Canada Blooms expert, will give the talk. Land O' Lakes Public School is holding a fundraiser. There will be a 3-pitch tournament on May 14th to May 16th at the Olden Ball Field to raise money for Land O' Lakes Public School. Entry fee is $150 + 1 game ball per team. Each team is guaranteed three games. Contact Barry Harding (613-335-5254) or Cory Thompson (613-335-3735) for information or to enter a team.

Scouts Canada Loyalist Area honoured thirteen Leaders with 5 to 40 years of service to Scouting at their annual banquet, April 24th. The roast beef dinner and awards ceremony was hosted at Trinity United Church in Verona with 48 Scouters in attendance. Of the 13 service awards presented, the following were given to Verona and area residents. Five year certificates and pins were presented to Bob Rose and Chris Perry of Verona. Ten year long service medal was presented to Peter Mouncey of Sydenham. Fifteen year pin and certificate went to Beth Freeland of Verona. Bob Harding of Sydenham, and Terry Freeland of Verona received 20 years awards. Congratulations to all of the Scouting volunteers, whether they received an award or not, for their dedicated service to the youth of our many communities

Denise Robinson has moved her office, Mortgage Intelligence from Main St. to her new location, 43 Thirteen Island Lake Road in Godfrey. We wish her every success in her new location.
