There will be a Christmas Extravaganza at Prince Charles Public School on Wednesday November 17th. Start or finish your Christmas Shopping all in one place! You will be able to order items from the following local vendors: Everyday Style, Pampered Chef, Avon, Gold Canyon Candles, Party Lite Candles, Nicole's Gifts, Tomboy Tools, Regal and more. Free admission. Proceeds from the event will go towards the Grade 6/ 7 year end trip. 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. For more info or to set up a table as a vendor, contact Nicki Gowdy at 613-374-3610.

The Cookbooks are here! Nancy Lansdell co-ordinated the project to publish a cookbook combining local history and heirloom recipes to sell as a fundraiser for the Find-A Doc committee. I purchased my copy and it is a wonderful cookbook filled with tried and true recipes from our local residents and vintage photos . This cookbook will truly be a real keepsake and makes the ideal Christmas present. You can purchase this cookbook for $ 10.00 at these three Verona locations. Local Family Farms, Main St. Mercantile and Tea Shop and the Frontenac Farmers Market.

Harrowsmith Public School Parent Council is sponsoring a free information session on "Books for Struggling Readers" through the Dyslexia Association on Tuesday, November 16th, 7:00 p.m. Harrowsmith Public School. Space is limited. Pre-register at www.idaontario.com. Click on "Event Calendar" and scroll down to "Parent Education Group Kingston".

South Frontenac Natural Environment Committee presents a free Nature Talk. The topic is "Well Aware" presented by Robin Hutcheon with Hearthmakers Energy Co-op. It will cover subjects including Keeping Our Drinking Water Safe, What's in our Water and How do we Maintain our Wells. St. Paul's United Church, Harrowsmith, Wednesday, Nov 17th, 7 pm to 9 pm

North Frontenac Little Theatre presents an adult comedy entitled " Drinking Alone" from November 18 through to the 21st. Saturday's performance is a dinner theatre. This has proven to be very popular in the past and tickets sell out quickly. Dinner tickets must be purchased by November 14 by calling Nina Jenkins at 613-279-2945. For the other three days of performances, tickets can be purchased at Verona Hardware. Adults $ 12.00, Students and seniors $ 10.00. Dinner Theatre $ 27.00

Southern Frontenac Community Services Corporation is holding its Annual Auction, Friday, November 19th. There will be a silent auction and a live auction. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to support services and programs for seniors. Admission is $12.00 and includes a roast beef dinner. Dinner 5.30pm, Auction 7pm. Sydenham Legion, Sydenham.

Birthday wishes to Zilpha Brown who will be celebrating her 90th birthday on Saturday, November 13th. Zilpha and her 10 children will welcome well wishers on Saturday at Verona Lions Hall from 2 to 4 P.M.

Heads Up! A very special day is coming on November 26th. The winter season starts off with a blockbuster day. Free Skate for the children and their parents and a special evening of fun and camaraderie at the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. More details to follow in next week's column.
