Do you still have shopping to do before the big day? Shop local. With the wintry weather and the price of gas, it is convenient to stay in Verona and enjoy shopping at our local merchants. All your holiday needs are covered- from stocking stuffers and presents for under the tree to supplying all the fixings for Christmas dinner. And for the people who are impossible to buy for- gift certificates are available from local merchants and restaurants. Have fun with your imagination this holiday and give the gift of Verona shopping.

This is it - your last chance, this year, to visit the Frontenac Farmers Market. Then the market will be on hiatus until mid February. Stock up now. It is customer appreciation day. With every purchase you can enter a contest to win a basket of market goodies. Enjoy the music as students from Tom's Music Studio entertain us. Stuff a cruiser! On Saturday, December 17, Ontario Provincial Police officers will be parking an OPP cruiser at Reid's Foodland. Help fill the cruiser with non-perishable food items. The food collected will support the Food Bank operated by Southern Frontenac Community Services Corporation

There will be a New Year's Eve Party at the Verona Lions Hall. December 31. 7 to 1 pm. DJ, light buffet and cash bar. $15 a ticket. All proceeds go to Christmas For Kids. Verona Free Methodist Church is holding their Christmas event called 'A Walk to the First Christmas.' Journey back in time to the night Jesus was born. Friday December 16, 7 to 8 pm and December 17, from 4 to 5 pm and then from 7 to 8 pm.

The Verona Lions Club will be hosting a blood donor clinic on Thursday, December 21 from 2:30 to 6:30 pm at the Verona Lions Hall, Verona Sand Rd. To avoid a wait you can book an appointment by calling Canadian Blood Services toll-free at 1-888-236-6283.

Have you picked up your free tickets for the Christmas Dinner on Christmas day at the Verona Lion's Club? Free tickets available at Toppers or Verona Hardware. It is going to be a fun day filled with music and great food. For further info contact Joyce Casement at 613-374-3406.

The Christmas for Kids collection jars have been distributed throughout the village in various stores and businesses. Any unwrapped new toys, books and clothing can also be dropped off at the Verona Hardware Store. Your generosity will help make this a special Christmas for a lot of Verona and area children and their families.

The Frontenac Flyers PeeWee Rep Team have two home game coming up. Saturday, December 17 at 3 pm when they take on the Centre Hastings and Thursday, December 22 at 6 pm the Stirling Blues. Frontenac Community Arena in Piccadilly. Come out and support your local hockey team!
