Published May 13, 2009

Victoria Day weekend is here. To a lot of us, this weekend signals the start of summer, the time to pull on the gardening gloves and risk planting our flowers, daring the nights to be frost free.

We start planning our summer holidays and the kids begin to count down the days until the end of school.

Prince Charles public school is a buzz with activities the next two weeks of May. There is a Talent Show this Friday May 15. After 2 auditions, 23 acts were chosen to participate in the talent show. There will be something for everyone, from dancing, singing, pianists, jokes to magic acts. It will be an exciting afternoon. The top 5 acts chosen will headline Panther Palooza on the following Friday. Public welcome. 1 pm to 3:30 pm

Prince Charles PS is holding its annual yard sale this Saturday May 16. The sale takes place in the school parking lot, weather permitting. Table rentals are $10.00 each. Vendors from the community are welcome. Hot dogs and drinks on sale from 11 am to 1 pm. Lots of bargains to be found. To reserve a table or for any other info, contact Mary Jo Dowker 613-374-3275. Sale starts at 8:30 a.m.until everyone leaves.

This is the third year for their Yard sale. This year the grade 4 class parents are handling the promotion and organization.. The grade 4 class has an exchange teacher from Australia, Miss Sharp. They want to commemorate this year with an extra special year-end trip. The students are currently studying medieval times and they thought a trip to Medieval Times in Toronto would cap the year of studies. All proceeds will go towards the year-end trip.

Vist the Framers' market for double the pleasure this Saturday. There will be a mini Yard sale. Browse the bargains then visit all the vendor stalls. The vendors at the Market are dedicated to providing the best and most varied local producer-based goods they can offer. May 16. 9am to 2 pm

Kurtara Driving Range is donating all of their Friday fees during May to the Cancer Fund. Drive a bucket - help fight cancer! Arena Boundary Rd.

The Verona Festival meeting will be held Tuesday, May 19. 7 pm at the Lion's Club. New volunteers are welcome. This is going to be Verona's best festival yet. Help us make it happen!

The next Nature Talk seminar will take place in the Townhall in Sydenham. Del Stowe will be providing information on the Cataraqui Trail. May 20. 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
