Start Halloween off on the right foot. The Verona Farmers' Market will celebrate Halloween and invite the kiddies to help in the fun. The children are encouraged to dress up in their scariest costumes and spook the vendors for some treats. The vendors will be in costume and will be selling all kinds of goodies made of pumpkins. Witch Judy will be serving up her cauldron of famous chili. To top it off, there will be a pumpkin carving contest, with prizes, for the kids. There will be lots of vendors on hand providing the best and most varied local goods they can offer. We extend a special welcome to newcomer Dragon Fly Herbs from Sharbot Lake. Get an early start on Halloween day and have a family fun filled time at the Verona Farmers Market, October 31st from 9 am to noon, Lion Clubs Hall, Verona Sand Rd,

The Christmas for Kids Halloween Dance was a howling success. The Rivendell Golf Club was filled to capacity with costumed partygoers dancing the night away. Wayne Conway won the "Best Costume" prize with his very interpretive and creative costume "Dirt". He was literally wearing dirt! The Verona Community Association would like to thank the very special women who made this night the huge success it was: Lisa Snider, Nicki Gowdy, Angela Hurren, Nicki Van Camp, Joyce Casement, and Mary- Jo Dowker. They and the VCA give heartfelt thanks to the sponsors for their generosity in donating such great prizes and terrific silent auction items. There are more VCA events coming in November. A Free Skate Party on November 16th and the Christmas Tree Lighting on November 27th. Look for the flyer in your mail in November with all the details.

It was a very close game for the Frontencas Flyers last week. No win yet but they are getting so close. The score was 1-0 against the same team that beat them 15-0 a few weeks back. The team says the larger home crowds are encouraging them and that a few more supporters may help them get their first "W". Come cheer the Frontenac Flyers Junior C hockey team, Sunday November 1st at the Frontenac Arena. 7 pm. The visiting team will be the Picton Pirates.

Piccadilly Jam Session featuring Country, Bluegrass and Folk music will be held at the Bedford Hall. Open mike. Performers free, audience $1.00. info 613-374-1236 or 613-374-5477 Sunday November 1st from 1 to 5 pm

The Quilting Group will meet Wednesday November 4th at Trinity United Church. Anyone interested in quilting is welcome to join the group, whether a seasoned quilter or a beginner. For more information call Ann McDougall at 613 374-2516
