Looking for something to do with the kids on Monday, November 16, the PD day? Bring the whole family to the Free Skate at the North Frontenac Arena from 12:30 to 2 pm. There will be music, prizes and fun for all!

Sydenham HS Donation
Linda Bates received a very pleasant surprise recently. The Sydenham High School Student Council presented Linda with a cheque for $240.00 for her project for the Children of Northern Haiti. The council learned of Linda's latest endeavor, to outfit all the children in the Haiti schools with school chairs. An $8.00 donation buys one chair for these children. The council decided to outfit one classroom of 30 students. Linda is in the process of fund raising for furniture for these classrooms. Donations can be dropped off at Revell's Ford in Verona, Dr. Sheldon Cook in Sydenham, or any Unity Savings Branch. For further information please contact Linda Bates at 613-374-1307.

The Natural Environment Committee of South Frontenac will have a Nature Talk entitled 'Do You Have a Healthy Woodlot and Trees?' The speaker is D. Smallwood. Wed. Nov 18. 7 to 9 pm at Trinity United Church-Fellowship Hall. For more info call 613-353-8338 or 374-1253.

Portland District and Area Heritage Society will hold their General Meeting at Princess Anne Community Hall in Hartington. Wednesday Nov 18, 7 pm

Verona thespian Dick Miller acts and sings in a new production " Santa Claus, the Panto." It is a musical, farcical extravaganza in the tradition of British holiday pantomine. Dick says that it is festive fun for the whole family. It will play in the Village Theatre in Selby starting November 20 and runs until December 5. Piccadilly Jam Session featuring Country, Bluegrass and Folk music will be held at the Bedford Hall, Godfrey. Open mike. Performers free, audience $1.00. Info 613-374-1236 or 613-374-5477. Sunday, November 15th from 1 to 5 pm.

Cheer on the Frontenac Flyers Junior C hockey team this Sunday November 15th at the Frontenac Arena. 7 pm Visiting team will be the Port Hope Panthers.

Verona's Annual Christmas Tree Lighting will be Friday, November 27th at McMullen Park. Bauder Road and Friends will lead the crowd in Christmas songs. Free hot chocolate, hot dogs and marshmallows around a firepit. A great time for everyone. 7 pm.

Southern Frontenac Community Services (Rural Visions) is holding their annual auction, their major fundraiser of the year. Tickets are $5 per person which includes sparkling wine, cake, coffee, tea, chocolate fountain with fresh fruit and a chance to bid, either live or in a silent auction, on many items donated by local and Kingston businesses. Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Golden Links Hall, Harrowsmith. Tickets are available at Verona Hardware.
