Don't miss the Verona Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony this Friday, November 27, starting at 7 pm. For fifteen years, Verona and area residents have gathered at McMullen Park to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season. This year Bauder Road and Friends will lead the crowd in Christmas carols and songs, while neighbours chat and children romp in the crisp night air. The Free Methodist Youth Group will serve free hot chocolate The Verona Lions provide free hot dogs and marshmallows around a firepit. The crowd gives the countdown to the lighting of the tree and Verona's Holiday season officially begins. Non-perishable food items for the Food Bank appreciated.

The Verona Community Association would like to give a special thanks to Bell Canada who installed the new Christmas Tree lights at McMullen Park just in time for the Christmas Tree Lighting. Bell Canada has been very supportive of our Verona community. They install the street banners every year for the Verona Festival and the Verona Lions Jamboree. Bell Alliant provides the VCA with additional power generators for the Verona Festival.

A fundraiser for two year old Kylie Babcock who is undergoing cancer treatment, will be held this Saturday November 28th. A concert by the popular Verona gospel band, Crimson River, at the Verona Free Methodist Church. There will be a silent auction. Admission is by donation. The concert starts at 6:30 pm. Sisters By Heart have cancelled their December event to focus their efforts and help at this benefit concert for Kylie. They are asking participants who would have come to the Sisters by Heart event to instead bring a gift worth $5.00 to the fundraiser. Sisters by Heart will add the presents to a festive Christmas basket that they will present to Kylie, her older sister and her parents to help bolster their spirits over the holidays.

Piccadilly Jam Session will be held at the Bedford Hall. Open mike. Performers free, audience $1.00. Info 613-374-1236. Sunday November 29 from 1 to 5 pm

Cheer on the Frontenac Flyers Junior C hockey team Sunday November 29 at the Frontenac Arena. 7 pm Visiting team Napanee Raiders.

The Quilting Group will meet Wednesday, December 2 at Trinity United Church. Anyone interested in quilting is welcome to join the group, whether a seasoned quilter or a beginner. They have lots of patterns and ideas and there are always people to help with advice. For more information call Ann, 613 374-2516. This will be the last meeting before the New Year. 9 am to noon.

The South Frontenac Community Services Annual Auction Fundraiser will be held Friday November 27th at the Golden Links Hall, Harrowsmith. 6:00 pm. Many items are going up for auction. Tickets are available at RONA Hardware. For more details visit the website at www.ruralvisionscentre.org

Land of Lakes Artisan's Guild Third Annual Christmas Sale will be held Sunday December 6 at the Verona Lions Club. More on this next week.
