January is here, with eyes that keenly glow,
A frost-mailed warrior
striding a shadowy steed of snow
- Edgar Fawcett

This is the month that tries to keep me indoors., Thankfully there are lots of groups and organizations that continue their activities in this brutal month and tempt us to brave the cold and venture forth.

First off , kudos to the students of Prince Charles Public School. In spite of winter they have remained active and continue their "Walk to Whistler" challenge. Of all the groups who are participating in this challenge PCPS is at the top of the leader board. As of January 11, they have walked a total of 5,118,156 steps for a distance of 3,877.4 km. You can track their progress on the website http://www.healthycommunity.ca/Kingston/Challenge/. The Canadian map on that site shows our PCPS team walking in Alberta. Just 1 million steps to go.

Welcome back, Chris Chanook, fourth grade teacher at Prince Charles Public School. Chris was on a 1-year Teacher Exchange program in Australia. I am sure he has a lot of interesting stories for us from the "Land Down Under".
