Are you curious about all the activity in the empty building across from the post office? Hugh Fisher, owner of Jitterbugs has bought the building and is in the process of doing a major makeover to ready the building for the relocation of Jitterbugs. While tearing out wallboards, they found a leather pair of baby shoes-a style that was worn by children in the early 1900's. Hugh would love to know the history of the building. Can anyone help supply any information? Hugh is planning to open the new location in the New Year. Meanwhile, business will be conducted as usual at the old Jitterbugs location.
Deb Fischer, resident of Howe's Lake is not happy. While pulling out their boat for the winter season, they discovered Zebra mussels on the bottom of the boat. Seems the little varmints have found their way into our lakes. There are a number of natural predators of zebra mussel. Zebra mussels have high nutritional value and are consumed in large quantities by crayfish, waterfowl and in smaller quantities by muskrats. Hopefully our wildlife can help take care of some of the problem. For more information on how you can help stop further infestations visit www.great-lakes.net/envt/flora-fauna/invasive/zebra.html
