Despite the inclement weather, it was a full house at the Verona Lions Club, Friday October 15th, as residents met the candidates for this year's municipal election. Tons of questions and lively debates kept the evening hopping. If you haven't voted, you can vote from now until Monday October 25th, from home or at the Municipal office. Polls close Monday at 8 pm. I took advantage of the easy, at home voting system. Hubby tried out the internet voting and I tried the telephone voting. It was amazingly easy. Very simple to follow directions and you have lots of opportunity to correct any errors that you may make. I couldn't believe how easy it was to vote and I stayed nice and toasty in the comfort of my own home. Wouldn't it be nice to be the municipality that has the highest voter turnout? All you need is the letter that was mailed to you. All the directions are right on that letter. For further information or help you can call the Municipal Office at 613-376-3027 or email elections@township.southfrontenac.on.ca.

What a busy three days this is going to be. This Saturday, October 23, I will be dining at Trinity United Church at their Pig Roast Supper. I will enjoy pork right off the spit, baked potatoes, beans, coleslaw, homemade pie and all the trimmings. There will be one 5:30 pm sitting and Take Out is available. Adults $12.00, kids 6 to 12 $ 6.00 and under 6 free. Advance Ticket Reservation 613-374-2442

Once dinner is digested, I will don my fright wig and heavy metal makeup, throw on a cape and head off to the Halloween Dance and Silent Auction at the Verona Lions Club. There will be prizes for best costumes, door prizes, spot dances and other fun events! Not only will I be dancing up a storm but I will also be placing bids in the silent auction. Lots of goodies are going up. An exciting evening and the best thing is all profits go towards the Verona Community Associaton Christmas for Kids fund. The party starts at 8 pm. Tickets are only $15.00 and are available at Verona Hardware or at the door. And if I don't feel like driving there will be a shuttle bus to get me home.

More food and music on Sunday, October 24th. The Bedford Country and Bluegrass Open Mic is holding their annual Harvest Pot Luck Supper. Music is from 1-5 pm, supper at 5pm. Kylie Babcock and her family are special guests. We will be giving thanks and celebrating Kylie's recovery from cancer. Everyone is welcome and asked to bring a dish of your choice. For further info call Joan Shepherd @ 374-5477 or Wilhelmine Card @ 374-2614

Monday, October 25th, I will be scrounging for my Bingo marker. Then it is off to the Verona Lions Club for a fun evening of Turkey Bingo. Doors and canteen open at 6 pm. Early Bird Bingo starts at 6:50 pm. 12 regular games and 2 share the wealth. Free parking.

Whew!! This is going to be fun!
