Shop local. With the wintry weather and the price of gas, it is convenient to stay in Verona and have fun shopping at our local merchants. So many great shops have opened this year to help fill those Christmas lists. And for the people who are impossible to buy for- gift certificates available from most of the local merchants and restaurants. Have fun with your imagination this holiday and give the gift of Verona shopping.

The Frontenac Women's Chorus presents "Home for Christmas" on Friday December 10 at 7:30 pm at Trinity United Church, Verona. It will be an evening of Christmas Choral music, a carol sing-a-long, refreshments and the traditional gift basket draw! Admission is a free will donation for our local Food Bank.

I am thrilled! I get another chance to tackle my favourite new game. Bingo. The Lion's Club will hold a Turkey Bingo on Monday, December 13th. Turkeys are being given out for the winners of each of the 12 games. Plus there will be two share the wealth games. Early bird game starts 6:50 pm. Canteen opens at 6 pm. Verona Lions Club. Verona Sand Road.

Only two more Saturdays to shop at the Frontenac Farmers Market and fill the pantries and wish lists with local producer-based goods. Fill out ballots with every purchase and enter to win a basket of market goodies to be drawn on December 18 . December 18 is a special day for the market - Customer Appreciation Day. Join the market for turkey and treats. Enjoy the music as students from Tom's Music Studio will present a Christmas Recital. Lions Club, Verona Sand Road, 9 am to 12 noon.

It was a magical night. The "Spirit of Advent" Christmas Choral Concert played to "standing room only" in Trinity United Church on Friday December 3rd. Harrowsmith's St Paul's United choir members joined the Trinity choir and created a special evening of rich and harmonious music. We were all spellbound for the entire program that concluded in an unusual rendition of Silent Night. The choir stood in the aisles and encircled the audience singing the lyrics in German, Spanish, Korean, Zulu and English. It was so beautiful to hear this lovely song sung simultaneously in 5 languages and moved me to tears.

If Christmas is stressful and loved ones can't be with you this year or the family budget has been pressed too far to afford a Christmas feast then we have a special event just for you. Join us Christmas day for a fun packed, music filled day with a delicious Christmas feast with all the trimmings served up. Share our Verona Christmas Spirit! This is a free event and is open to Verona and area residents. Tickets are free, but you must reserve your spot by picking up your ticket before December 15th at the Verona Hardware Store or Topper's Convenience Store.
